SDA Joins US Consulate Event to Promote Sustainability

On June 24, 2025, Alvin, a council member of SDA, represented the organization at the “249th Independence Day Celebration of the United States of America,” hosted by the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai. The event aimed to commemorate the 249th anniversary of U.S. independence and foster friendly exchanges and cooperation between Shanghai-based communities and the United States.

The gathering brought together representatives from Sino-American business, academic, and nonprofit sectors, as well as consular officials based in Shanghai. Participants reflected on the historical significance of U.S. independence and explored opportunities for deeper international collaboration within a multilateral framework.

In his address, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Scott Walker emphasized the importance of Sino-U.S. cooperation in climate, education, and technology. He expressed hope for continued dialogue and collaboration with local Chinese organizations through more diverse and open channels.

Alvin noted, “It is a great honor to be invited to this significant event. Sustainable development is not only a global issue but also a vital bond connecting the nongovernmental forces of China and the United States. Moving forward, SDA will continue to actively engage in international exchanges and work with partners from all sectors to contribute to a greener, more open, and inclusive future.”
